The ELCEE composite bearing materials are made by impregnating reinforced fibers with thermosetting resins to produce materials with superior properties and characteristics.
There are two categories of constituent material: Matrix and Reinforcement. The matrix is continuous phase material which is usually stiff and weaker than the reinforcement. It is used to surround and support the reinforcement materials by maintaining their relative positions. The reinforcements in the form of fibres, fabric, whiskers, or particulates, impart their special mechanical and physical properties to enhance the materials, while the wide variety of matrix and strengthening materials allows the designer of the product or structure to choose an optimum combination.
Performance properties of ELCEE composite bearing materials is achieved through the combinations of special reinforced materials, such as aramid, carbon, glass, cotton, or synthetic fibres saturated with thermosetting resins.
ELCEE bearing materials possess excellent wear resistance, high specific strength, good dimensional stability, durability and long-term resistance to severe chemical environments. The additions of solid friction modifiers such as PTFE, MoS2 and graphite enhance the wear properties and life duration, enabling them to be operated at higher speeds and loads.
